Bayat told Shana that since launching Arvand Petrochemical Company last year all the domestic needs to different grades of PVC has been met. \"Iran not only has achieved self-sufficiency in production of PVC but has joined the club of PVC exporting countries,\" the NPC Managing Director said. Prior to coming on line Arvand Petrochemical Company, three petrochemical complexes including Abadan, Ghadir and Imam Khomeini Petrochemical Complexes were the only PVC producing units in the country with annual production capacity of 405 thousand tons. But by coming on stream Arvand Petrochemical Complex, production of different grades of PVC soared 340 thousand tons per year therefore it is predicted the country to start exports of PVC and to assume 25 to 30 percent of the world market share. Bayat also reported of enough amount of production of caustic soda in Arvand Petrochemical Complex, adding the price of the product rose by 42 percent in domestic markets when implementation of targeted subsidies law started last year. Arvand Petrochemical Complex with yearly production capacity of 2.834 million tons of petrochemical products feeds other downstream sectors, including detergents, paper, textiles, healthcare, solvents, resins and waxes.
