At 14 years of age, Mahmoud Wael, who has recently completedall levels of English and computer courses at the School of Continuing Education(SCE) through a three-month scholarship, is one of the world s youngest certifiedprogrammers - a tribute bestowed upon him by Microsoft.With an intelligence quotient (IQ) level of 155, Mahmoud would be classified asa \"genius,\" according to the Stanford-Binet Scale of Human Intelligence.At SCE, Mahmoud earned several international programming certificates, the mostrecent of which were the Cisco Certified Network Associate and the Cisco CertifiedNetwork Professional programs. These certificates qualify him to instruct Universitygraduates. He has also completed numerous customized English courses, which Mahmoudhopes would enable him to further develop his ingenuity.\"I am intrigued and challenged by programming tasks,\" said Mahmoud.\"Despite my young age, I feel excited whenever I work on a demanding computer-relatedtask, some of which could consume up to eight hours of my time.\"Mahmoud s first encounters with AUC began at age 7, when he was offered a scholarshipfrom Greenland International School, an English-language educational institutionwith Canadian accreditation.Mahmoud has been offered university scholarships in Canada and Syria, but his heartremains in his homeland.\"I plan on pursuing an engineering degree here in Egypt,\" he said.\"I want to make sure that any inventions and patents I come up with are attributedto my country. This won t be the case if I study abroad.
