Russia’s multi-national computer security company Kaspersky Laboratory will be actively cooperating with the specialized Interpol division – INTERPOL Global complex for Innovation - in the struggle against cyber threats at the world level, the company’s press-service said in a press-release on Friday. The agreement was achieved in the course of negotiations among Kaspersky Laboratory CEO Yevgeny Kaspersky, Interpol Secretary-General Ronald Noble and IGCI Executive Director Noboru Nakatani at the Kaspersky Laboratory head office in Moscow. The Kaspersky Laboratory will provide extensive consultancy services to the IGCI in investigating cyber crimes and also delegate its specialists to the IGCI office in Singapore, due to open in 2014. Also, the company will back Interpol in its initiatives to expand the expertise of law enforcement agencies in countries around the world in fighting cyber threats and cyber criminals. “I have campaigned for establishing what I would call an Internet Interpol for many years. At last my idea has materialized,” Kaspersky said after the talks. “We take an active part in investigating cyber crimes. We provide our expertise, technologies and resources to the law enforcement agencies of different countries around the world. Now criminals will have no chance of taking refuge in some remote country, of hiding behind physical borders.” Support for the IGCI from the Kaspersky Laboratory will allow law enforcement agencies in more than 190 countries affiliated with Interpol to get the necessary expertise for the successful investigation of cyber crimes and for the protection of the international cyber space, Nakatani said. No country can effectively resist international crimes on one’s own. This is precisely why the knowledge of experts and their assistance are so important in this activity, Noble said. He is certain that for the successful solution and prevention of cyber crimes the national and international law enforcement agencies must cooperate with recognized experts in the field of information security. The Kaspersky Laboratory is certainly one of them, he added.
