Chinese computer maker Lenovo has announced its ThinkPad Tablet 2, a Windows 8 slate with optional pen input, will be in U.S. stores in October. To be released at the time of the launch of Windows 8, the Lenovo tablet will run on an Intel Atom processor and a 1,366 x 768 LCD multitouch display while packing a battery good for up to 10 hours, Slash Gear reported Thursday. An optional stylus for user input uses an active digitizer for more precision and slides into a holder on the tablet\'s side. The ThinkPad Tablet 2 has twin cameras, one on the back and a forward facing one for video calls. Options for the tablet will include a fingerprint reader, integrated 3G/4G wireless connections, and an external keyboard for heavy-duty text entry. The ThinkPad Tablet 2 will be going up against not only Microsoft\'s own Surface Pro tablet but the iPad, the undisputed leader in the tablet computer arena. Lenovo has not yet made any announcement about pricing, Slash Gear said.
