Every time a new gadget is released, especially an Apple gadget, videos showing the destruction of that new toy appear on the Internet. You might\'ve seen plenty of those clips already — from Blendtec\'s Will It Blend? campaign to SquareTrade\'s iPad pavement drops — but you should still watch one more. Why? Because it involves an iPad ... and lasers ... and explosions. The clip was created by video producer Lowell Niles, who uses Wicked Lasers products in his regular video work. He tells me that he\'s always seeking ways to incorporate various light effects in his work and that he finds lasers produce some fantastic backdrops. Naturally this means that he has a small pile of powerful Wicked Lasers products — such as the Spyder III Krypton, Arctic, and Torch — sitting around. After hearing his friends talk about the new iPad and reading that lithium-ion polymer batteries — such as those found in the iPad — may explode if heated, Niles decided to see what happens when a new iPad is exposed to laser beams. It also didn\'t hurt, he tells me, that Wicked Lasers offered a $1000 laser to the first person to destroy an iPad using only the company\'s laser products. The deal was great in Niles\' opinion, since the iPad he destroyed only cost him $500 And besides, he was more than happy to make this video since he, like many of us, likes \"to see [things] blown up with lasers.\" Want more tech news, silly puns, or amusing links?
