Iranian researchers used a new casting method to produce polymeric nanoparticles casted by ethanol molecules in order to detect ethanol gas.The produced sensor is based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes/casted polymeric nanoparticles nanocomposite, and it has applications in the sensing of gases with chemical resistance. The new method can also be used in the production of other sensors with high efficiency and sensitivity.Taking into account the advantages of the produced sensor, including its simplicity, cost-effective price, small size, and high sensitivity and selectivity, it can be announced as one of the best sensors in order to detect ethanol. Another interesting point in this research is the use of a new technique to produce chemical sensors for various types of chemical molecules by focusing on nanocomposites based on casted polymers at nanometric scale and on carbon nanotubes. This research presented a sensor mechanism based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes/cased polymeric nanoparticles nanocomposite in order to produce chemical resistant gas sensors. The couple of nanometric casted polymers with carbon nanotubes was presented as a new method to produce chemical resistant sensor. It proved the significant increase in the selectivity and sensitivity of the proposed sensor. The research can fulfill the needs of precise measurement and detection in various purposes such as respiration test for alcoholic drinkers or the detection of fermentation process. Results of the research have been published in January 2013 in Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, vol. 176.
