IT consultant Nat Morris, 30, has invented an ingenious way to give his border terrier Toby a tweet treat. He sends him a Twitter message to @FeedToby via a mini computer which buzzes to alert Toby that a tweet has been received. A motor from a small HP printer roars into life and pulls open a trap door which releases a serving of food down a tube and into Toby’s food bowl placed below. Toby’s owner spends a lot of time away from home and isn’t always able to feed his four year old pet personally. With his new invention, he can feed Toby from anywhere in the world and he has rigged up a camera so that he can see Toby enjoying his electronically delivered treat. “People have been sending him food at all hours of the day” Mr Morris said “so I had to limit it to between nine in the morning and nine in the evening” he added. Mr Morris is considering patenting the system but in the meantime, Toby sits patiently by his food bowl, waiting for the next tweet to release his favourite food.
