Today the folks at Zynga have sent out invitations to a phone conference which promises to be exciting for customers and partners alike. What we’re expecting they’re going to announce is their official acquisition of the explosively popular game Draw Something’s developing company OMGPOP. This group has seen sudden success with the collaborative drawing application and Zynga, always the company ready for a good buy, is almost certainly ramped up to take advantage. This isn’t the first time Zynga has picked up a competitor in the field, with several acquisitions happening within the past few years to make them one of the fastest growing social media and mobile gaming groups on the planet. They’ve got a their own stock on the market right this moment as well, shares going up 6.2% since the invitation was sent out today. We’re expecting that the actual announcement, taking place at NOON Pacific, will make that stock jump even higher. With games like Farmville and Words with Friends already taking over both the social networking and mobile gaming worlds, what greatness will Zynga find picking up OMGPOP? We shall see soon enough?
