It's travel season. Everyone is going in different directions to discover new places, visit friends and family at home, or just escape the summer heat here in the UAE.

For information: Apple's first and only wearable can give instant access to necessary information on the go, including all your flight details. If you've downloaded the app of the airlines you regularly travel with, you can check-in for your flight in advance on your iPhone, add it to your Passbook and then access your boarding pass straight from your wrist so you can scan it at the gate. The TripIt app, which instantly organises all your travel plans in one place and can be accessed anytime, can also be downloaded for good measure.
For transportation: Don't get lost; the device allows you to access apps including Uber and Lyft so you can hail cars and know when your ride has arrived with a simple vibration.
For directions: The Apple Watch elevates the experience of getting directions by making it more hands-free and user-friendly. Using the dictation functionality or a manual location search, you can simply tell your watch where you want to go. It will then give you discreet turn-by-turn directions with a 'tap' so you don't even need to look at the screen.
 
For translations: One of the most difficult challenges when traveling is not understanding the language locals speak. However, there are apps now that break those barriers. The iTranslate app, for example, allows you to get translations in over 90 languages. You can translate text, start voice conversations and even look words up, meanings and conjugations. The best part is that the app has an 'offline mode' so you don't have to pay expensive roaming charges. So now you can leave your phrasebooks at home and rely on your wrist companion.
