
Energy Minister Youcef Yousfi announced Sunday in Oran the existence of a programme for hydrocarbon exploration in the country's North in partnership with foreign companies.
In a statement to the press on the sidelines of the International Conference on Gas Industry in Algeria, the minister said that 5 foreign companies will work with the national hydrocarbon company SONATRACH for the achievement of the future exploration programme in te northern part of the country.
"We have a great hydrocarbon exploration potential in the country's North and we seek to encourage energy investment through partnership," he said.
Youcef Yousfi also said that Algeria, which amended its law on Hydrocarbon "is now in the phase of modernizing all its capacities in teh field*, particularly in the management of investments," adding that his sector will continue to work to that end and will listen to the concerns of these partners."
