Qatargas highlighted the role of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in the future of sustainable energy in the world. This came in the Liquefied Natural Gas seminar organized by the International Gas Union (IGU). on the sideline of COP18, now in session at Qatar National Convention Centre(QNCC) premises. Qatargas presented, during the seminar, its efforts to provide sustainable energy to more than 20 countries around the world, through exporting shipments of LNG, in addition its global reputation as one of the world leading companies of LNG export. Qatargas Senior LNG Marketer Al-Anoud Darwish presented the company’s efforts in environment preservation , highlighting the company’s current projects to reduce carbon emissions, such as the project of retrieving gas evaporated during shipment (Jetty Boil-off Gas – JBOG), at a cost of USD one billion, explaining that JBOG once completed , will save large amounts of LNG enough to supply about 300,000 houses with energy for one year. She also addressed, in her presentation, the company’s program to reduce warming gas emissions and the measures that have contributed to the reduction of such emissions by as much as 11.5% since 2010, in addition to the company’s actions to reduce emissions of carbon oxides through the pursuit of excellence in operations and improving performance in the environment preservation, seeking the optimal and responsible use of the natural resources of the State of Qatar and ensure their consistency with Qatar National Vision 2030 to achieve sustainable development.
