US oil falls for 5th trading day

US crude prices on Monday pared earlier gains before the close and settled lower for the fifth straight trading day. Light, sweet crude for January delivery lost 37 cents, or 0.43 percent to settle at 85.56 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for January delivery traded flat around 107 dollars a barrel.
