Canbberra - Xinhua
The best indigenous art from across Australia will be showcased at the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) next year, Director of NGA Ron Radford announced on Friday. NGA will have its second UnDisclosed Indigenous Art Triennial opened from May to July 2012. Carly Lane, a Kalkadoon woman from north Queensland, will curate the second exhibition. UnDisclosed, which will feature the work of 20 artists, will embark on a national tour after its time at the NGA. According to Franchesca Cubillo, senior curator at the gallery, the triennial gives the audience a better understanding of the diversity in contemporary Indigenous art. \"It is varied right across the nation and there are so many different voices and different stories and different histories that are put forward,\" she said in a statement. \"Sometimes those stories are quite old and ancient as in the Dreaming and sometimes they\'re very recent and political like the Palm Island riots.\" In 2007, the UnDisclosed Indigenous Art Triennial has attracted 260,000 visitors, toured nationally and was exhibited in Washington DC of U.S. in 2010.
