London - Arabstoday

Casting has been announced for the Royal Court theatre’s forthcoming production In The Republic Of Happiness, which will see Olivier Award-winning actress Michelle Terry return to the venue. Joining Terry in the cast are Anna Calder-Marshall, Emma Fielding, Seline Hizli, Ellie Kendrick, Stuart McQuarrie, Paul Ready and Peter Wight. Terry, who won an Olivier Award for the Royal Court’s production of Tribes in 2011, is a regular at the National Theatre having appeared in The Comedy Of Errors, London Assurance, All’s Well That Ends Well and England People Very Nice. Calder-Marshall’s recent stage credits include the Olivier Award-nominated production of Salt, Root And Roe, which played as part of last year’s Donmar Trafalgar season, while Cranford’s Fielding, whose theatre credits include Playing With Fire at the National Theatre and Rock ‘N’ Roll at the Duke Of York’s, was last seen on stage in The King’s Speech. Hizli can currently be seen in the Royal Court’s West End transfer of Jumpy at the Duke of York’s and has also appeared in The House Of Bernada Alba at the Almeida theatre. Royal Court regular McQuarrie’s theatre credits include Ding Dong The Wicked, Wanderlust and Relocated And Cleansed as well as the West End transfer of the Royal Court’s Clybourne Park, while Ready, who starred in Noises Off at the Old Vic, has appeared in Wastwater, Forty Winks, Black Milk, Crazyblackmuthaf***ingself and Terrorism at the acclaimed Sloane Square venue. On screen stars Kendrick and Wight complete the cast. Kendrick, whose television credits include Game Of Thrones, Being Human and Upstairs, Downstairs, was last seen on stage in Romeo And Juliet at Shakespeare’s Globe while, star of films including Atonement, Hot Fuzz and Pride And Prejudice, Wight’s recent stage credits include In Basildon at the Royal Court and Waiting For Godot at the National Theatre. Martin Crimp’s violent satire, which plays from 6 December to 19 January, tells the story of a family Christmas that is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Uncle Bob. While no one knows who he is or where he’s come from, what is certain is that the world will never be the same again. Directed by Dominic Cooke with designs by Miriam Buether, In The Republic Of Happiness will open in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs following Lucy Kirkwood’s sharp new comedy NSFW, which plays until 24 November.
