The Mansour Bin Mohammad Photography Award has announced the start of third cycle of the annual competition for 2012 under the name \"Emirati Souqs\". The competition, held under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum aims to encourage photographers to take the best and most creative photos of the traditional and modern Emirati souqs and their key features. The competition will be accompanied by workshops and training sessions to develop and enhance the quality of local participation in line with international standards. The main category of the competition focuses on the features of the traditional and modern Emirati souqs. All applicants who wish to apply for the main category shall submit a portfolio of the photos taken for these souqs\' lifestyle, said Badr Abdullah Al Awadhi, Chairman of the UAE Photography Society and Secretary General of the Award. Article continues below Six sub-categories The secondary category of the award focuses on six general sub-categories allowing the photographers to participate through different local topics such as the UAE nature, architecture, action, still life, macro and abstract, people and portrait, he added. The final details of the prizes and dates will be announced this month, he said.
