
Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bin Mohammed AL Khalifa received here today the CEO of the Prince Charles Foundation Hank Dittmar and the Special Advisor to Prince Charles for Planning Affairs Aaron Davis, in the presence of the Housing Minister Bassim bin Yaaqoob Al Hamar, Director-General of Urban Planning Abdulla Al-Zayed, and Cultural Maintenance Consultant at the Ministry Dr. Alaa Al-Habshi. They discussed the cooperation strategies related to the planning of some villages in the Southern Governorate, stressing the need to highlight the human and cultural features of the region. Shaikha Mai affirmed the importance of preserving the cultural and urban identities of each region. On his part, Housing Minister emphasised the pivotal role of culture in achieving the project to develop villages of the Southern Governorate, especially Askar and Jao. Those present discussed the nature of the Southern Governorate and the housing project to be implemented there, stressing the need to revive the ancient Jao Tower and include it in the village’s urban planning plan.
