
The Iranian envoy made the remarks in a meeting with Managing Director of Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency Kemal Ozturk in Ankara on Thursday. Bigdeli said that expansion of media relations between Iran and Turkey would serve to develop economic cooperation and political common grounds. The Iranian ambassador to Turkey underlined the significant role of media in broadening mutual cooperation between Tehran and Ankara. Anadolu news agency\'s managing director, for his part underlined that ties between Iran and Turkey are very deep-rooted dating back to centuries ago. \"Because the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the most important countries of the region, Turkey follows up the country\'s developments and events closely,\" he said. He noted that Anadolu news agency is to launch a new Persian service to forge unity between the two nations. Iran and Turkey have increased their cooperation in various fields of economy, security, trade, education, energy and culture in recent years. The two sides have exchanged several politico-economic delegations during the last few months. Turkey imports more than 90 percent of its oil and gas. Iran and Turkey are determined to boost their trade exchanges to $35 billion in the near future.
