The Jordan Press Association (JPA) on Tuesday congratulated the staff of the Jordan News Agency Petra on the national agency’s 44th anniversary and pledged support to it to carry out its national task. JPA President Tareq Momani said in a statement that the association appreciated services rendered to the nation and its citizens by Petra as it carries out its task with a high degree of professionalism, credibility and distinctiveness, noting the progress made by the news agency in recent years which helped it achieve an exalted status among its Arab counterparts. Momani noted that Petra attached great importance to its human resources in terms of training, qualifications and adherence to ethical media standards on its way to become a key reliable source of news for various news outlets. “As the JPA council is aware of the national role played by Petra and its openness to all opinions, it calls upon the government to give the agency due attention compatible with the message it upholds, particularly at a time when media has become a force for real change and its role has grown remarkably,” he added. Momani saluted Petra’s management and staff and pledged JPA’s support to them to further enhance the repute of the profession.
