Kalimat Publishing House, is participating in the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) 2012, which is taking place in the Chinese capital from 29th of August to 2nd September. The five-day long exhibition, now in its nineteenth year since its inception in 1986, has become a world-class event with thousands of publishers, readers and writers visiting China every year to take part in the exhibition. On the occasion, Tamer Said, business development manager for Kalimat, commented, “Our participation in BIBF is an opportunity to exchange cultural ideas and to promote the authentic Arab culture and literature. Such events allow for higher understanding and sharing of common customs enabling us to celebrate the greater depth of experience that our differences bring to the table.” Said went on to add that one of the most important aims of Kalimat’s participation in BIBF 2012 is to secure rights deals for Kalimat books. The participation in the international event forms part of the Department of Culture and Information’s initiatives to promote Emirati literature in Asia. Kalimat will also be working to strengthen and develop the ties that they had forged during the previous participation and to explore new avenues of cooperation.
