Preparations are afoot to implement the ‘Khalifa Project in World Languages’ on December 2, the 41st National Day of the UAE. The national project and a heritage gate are being launched by The Sultan bin Zayed’s Culture and Media Centre in cooperation with the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, UAE University and the Shaikh Khalifa Fund to support Youth Projects. Habib Yusuf Al Sayigh, Director General of the Centre said the Khalifa Project in World Languages is a gesture of gratitude to the country and its leader, The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, indicating that the project “reflects a genuine love for Shaikh Khalifa from Emiratis and world peoples. It aims at expressing allegiance to the leader through writing his name in all languages of the world, as well as highlighting the UAE’s culture and national identity.” The biggest heritage gate in the world will be made as part of the project and it has won the approval of the Guinness World Records, said Khadijja Saif Al Shehi, General Supervisor of the Project. “The more than 25-meter high gate will have all the details of the UAE and will bear the name of Shaikh Khalifa in more than 200 languages. It will tower over everything else and will portray the magnanimity of UAE citizens and the strong relations that link the UAE to the different countries of the World.” The gate will be built on a distinctive location in Abu Dhabi in coordination with the bodies concerned to become a monumental destination for visitors from inside and outside the country. The project also includes the electronic encyclopedia ‘Khalifa in World languages’, which is a hi-tech website containing the biography of Shaikh Khalifa, the achievements made by UAE and their translation in different? languages.
