Lebanese patriarch receives declaration of intent by 2 parties

The Lebanese Patriarch of the Maronite Catholic Church Cardinal Bechara Boutros al Rai received on Saturday the joint declaration of intent issued several days ago by Change and Reform bloc under Michel Aoun and the Lebanese Forces Party under Samir Geagea.

This came after years of conflict between the two parties which represent the biggest two entities in the Christian Lebanese scene.

Al Rai received the declaration during a meeting between member of the Change and Reform bloc Ibrahim Kanaan and Lebanese Forces media officer Melhem Riachi.

In press statements after the get-together, Kanaan said that the declaration has become with al Rai who sponsored this joint declaration which will be a new hope for Christians.

For his part, the Lebanese Forces media officer considered the declaration as a step towards uniting the Lebanese Christian social context.
