Sheikha Hussah al-Sabah
Washington - KUNA

The Museum of Fine Art Houston (MFAH) launched, on Sunday, an expanded installation of "Arts of Islamic Lands: Selections from The Al-Sabah Collection." The MFAH has partnered with the Kuwait-based Al-Sabah Collection and the cultural institution Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah in 2013 to display one of the greatest privately held collections of Islamic art in the world.
General Supervisor of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah Sheikha Hussah Al-Sabah told KUNA that the newly expanded installation more than triples the display from the debuted 67 to some 250 objects ranging from carpets and architectural fragments to exquisite ceramics, metalwork, jewelry, scientific instruments, and manuscripts.
The MFAH's director Gary Tinterow said the new display illustrates the development of artistic production and aesthetic values in Islamic culture over the last 1000 years. He added that discussions and tours will be held to familiarize the audience with this collection.
Meanwhile, Sheikha Hussah called on Former US President George Bush Sr. at his home in Texas to check on him after a health setback that forced him to be hospitalized for a week last month.
Sheikh Hussah expressed her appreciation to former US President for his unforgettable role in the liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion in February 1991.
