
Chairman of the Russian Muftis Council Ravil Gaynutdin lauded the Russian-Egyptian cooperation ties in the field of Azhar education and urged more cooperation with Azhar and showing the moderate image of Islam.
Gaynutdin pointed out that the graduates of the Russian Islamic schools and institutes continue their studies at Azhar University in Egypt.
He also mentioned organizing seminars and conferences in cooperation with Azhar in Moscow.
In statements on the sidelines of the current visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Russia, Gaynutdin voiced support to Sisi’s vision on renewing the religious discourse.
He also said that he visited Egypt several times and attended a number of conferences.
He added that there is no discrimination between Sunnis and Shi’its in Russia.
