First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa described "Shine" cultural contest, which was launched on the sidelines of Shaikh Khalid Horse Race Cup for the Disabled festival, as the fruit of successful social partnership with the University of Bahrain (UoB). He stressed utmost keenness to engage the handicapped actively into the community out of belief in the key role they can play in serving the society and contributing to national growth. He also underlined constant keenness to help them hone their skills and achieve their ambitions by removing all obstacles preventing them from standing out. He urged to hold on to the principle of social partnership, being a key factor to overcome challenges, pointing out the festival's role in clicking on the youth's creativity potentials, in general, and the skills of the handicapped, in particular. He said the aim is to create a stimulating environment for creativity and innovation so as to uphold Bahrain's shining image at local, regional and international events. He commended the goals of "Shine" competition which aims to support the youth and encourage them to pursue their higher education to ensure a successful professional future and better serve their homeland. He thanked UoB President Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi, the Students Affairs Deanship and all the university affiliates for their tremendous contributions as a strategic partner for the second consecutive year. "Shine" competition was announced at a press conference held today at UoB premises in Sakhir by the organising committee of Shaikh Khalid Horse Race Cup for the Disabled festival. Winners of the contest will be exempted from first-stage university fees or given BD 500 cash prizes. The festival's personality "Kahilan" ( an Arabian horse type ) was announced at the conference. The contestants will compete in writing poetry, playing music, photography and fine arts and registration can be made via the festival's website www.khalidcup.com. People can follow the festival's news via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube using the name "KHALIDCUP".
