The 2012 programme of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina will start on 1 January with the screening of two short films by independent filmmakers Karim Hanafy and Emad Maher. The first is Karim Hanafy’s 42-minute “Hekayat Kol Youm” (Tales from Everyday Life), and the second Emad Maher’s four-minute “Thawret Shabab” (Revolution of Youth). Maher won the Jury Prize for his film in this year’s Alexandria Film Festival. Set in Alexandria, the film revolves around a family of three generations in Alexandria, exploring their positions on the events of 28 January, dubbed “the Friday of Anger.” Screenings start at 7 pm and will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers.
