Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met Saturday with French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and discussed their countries' stances regarding regional developments, particularly in Libya.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 12th Manama Dialogue Forum, currently held in the Bahraini capital.
Le Drian appreciated Egypt's moves to bring together all conflicting parties in Libya with the aim to reach a consensus and maintain Libya's unity, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
Shoukry and Le Drian also agreed on the need to support the Libyan army and presidential guards in the face of militias, Abu Zeid added.
The meeting also tackled the Syrian crisis, with focus on Egyptian efforts to guarantee humanitarian aid reaches civilians in Aleppo, the spokesman said.
