Arab League chief, Chinese state councilor discuss areas of cooperation

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil El Araby on Monday received China's State Councilor Yang Jiechi.

In statements, AL Assistant Secretary General Ahmed Ben Helli said the meeting dealt with various areas of cooperation and the Chinese position aiming at establishing relations with Arab countries based on a strategic vision.

The meeting also dealt with the recent development in the Palestinian arena in the light of the Israeli intransigence, Ben Helli added.

The two sides also discussed the Syrian file and confirmed that the international community must carry out its responsibilities in helping the Syrian government and opposition to launch dialogue, stop violence and the help affected people.

The meeting also covered the latest developments on the Arab arena in general, and issues of mutual concern.
