Egypt to mark Veteran Warrior, Martyr Day Wednesday

The Egyptian Armed Forces will celebrate on Wednesday Veteran Warrior and Martyr Day that falls on March 9 every year.
Veterans Association Director Major General Magdy el Gharabli asserted the keenness of the General Command of the Armed Forces on offering support for families of martyrs and those injured in military operations.
Gharabli made the remarks during a press briefing held at the headquarters of Veterans Association on the occasion of celebrating Veteran Warrior and Martyr Day.
The celebration coincides with the 47th anniversary of martyrdom of Lt. General Abdel Moneim Riyad, a late chief of staff of the Armed Forces.
The honoring comes in appreciation for their heroic role in the different wars of Egypt, Gharabli said, adding that it includes citizens with disabilities, armed forces and police martyrs.
The association director, meanwhile, announced that the amount of subsidy to victims' families and the injured will be increased.
