Cairo - Arab Today

Egypt’s Supreme Council for Culture will host writer, poet and translator Abdel-Rashid Mahmoudy on Tuesday, 3 December, at 7:00pm to discuss his latest novel, Baad Al-Qahwa (After the Coffee). Critics Sherine Abul-Naga and Hussein Hammouda will participate in the discussion. The novel was released from Al-Dar Al-Masriah Al-Lubnanniah in Cairo in June. The novel is a trilogy that takes place in three places: Sharqiya governorate, Ismaillia governorate, and Vienna, Austria. Medhat, the protagonist in the novel, tries to resolve throughout the novel the struggle between body and soul, seek love, and follows his passion for music. Abdel-Rashid Sadiq Mahmoudy studied philosophy at Cairo University and London. He received PhD in Middle East Studies from the University of Manchester.
