London - Arabstoday

Tired of the usual, monotonous and boring life? Do something different this weekend. Go for a mini-vacation with your loved ones and rejuvenate yourself. Jayshree Pyasi lists down some of the options you can consider. Alwar Travelling160 kms from Delhi will take you to Alwar. The place offers you peaceful lakeside views, lush royal gardens and temples. Away from the hustlebustle of the city nestled in the arms of Mother Nature, isn't that something we all look forward to? Make the most of your weekend and head towards Alwar. We suggest a ride to the place by the 'Fairy Queen', the oldest engine in the world, which runs from Delhi. Kasauli A 325 km drive from Delhi will take you to the place where Hrithik danced to the tunes of 'Koi Mil Gaya'. Don't be put off by the distance; the weariness of the journey will wear off once you are here! The cobbled streets, the lovely frontage houses, the chestnut laden trees and little gardens at short distances are a haven for solitude lovers. If you are looking for a relaxed weekend away from the scorching heat of Delhi, Kasauli welcomes you. Nahan If Shimla seems too far then a small hill station which goes by the name Nahan might just be perfect for you. A five-hour, 260 km drive transports you to the lap of Himachal Pradesh. Rani-tal, the center of the town with a water tank, temple and a garden is a must-visit. On the way to Nahan, make sure you stop at Suketi Fossil Park which houses fossils of pre-historic animals dating up to the Jurassic-era which were found at the site. The sprawling fruit orchard of Dhaula Kaun is another spot which you wouldn't want to miss out on! Unchagaon Delhi offers a number of sites for the heritage lover but if royalty is what you are looking out for, the heritage hotel of Unchagaon is your best bet. Situated 118 kms from Delhi, the place is laden with beautiful archways and towering minarets. The verdant lawns offer you a peaceful reprieve from the city. If you want to be transported back to the 50s, you can hitch a bullock cart ride through orchards and farms or even ask for a Peshawari horse ride this weekend! Bharatpur If you are a bird lover, Bharatpur will surely top your list of getaways. Chances are you have already experienced the delights the place has to offer! If bird watching isn't your preferred idea of a getaway, you might just change your mind after visiting this place. Located 180 km away from Delhi, The 'Keoladeo-Ghana bird sanctuary', a world heritage site, offers you a chance to see upto 350 species of birds at a time. The sanctuary has turned into one of the finest heronry of the world; upto seventeen species are known to breed at Keoladeo. If you are a historian, a visit to the Lohgarh Fort here will regale you. Sariska Set at a distance of 180 km from Delhi, the Sariska wildlife sanctuary provides the best opportunity to spot tigers. The 'Tiger Gate of Rajasthan' offers you a trip to the wild side of our country with chitals, hyenas, neel gais, wild boars, leopards, sambars all making their presence felt, not in a cage pleasingly, but in their natural habitat. The various waterholes and lakes provide the perfect getaway from the sweltering heat for the animals in the vicinity. The regal charm and ambience of the Sariska Palace is a great place to put your feet up and relax after an exciting day amongst the wildlife.
