
The railway traffic from Algiers has gradually resumed Thursday after a train linking Algiers and Thenia (Eastern Suburbs) veered off track on Wednesday morning, near the station of Hussein Dey, the National Company of Railway Transport (SNTF).
The Algiers-Oran train started normally at the usual time from Agha train station with a stopover in Blida (west of Algiers), the same source added.
The train which has veered off track on Wednesday at 8:10 a.m. left a 55-year old woman dead and 70 injured is being removed from the lane.
Following this accident, a committee of inquiry was set up at the Ministry of Transport while a second committee was created by theSNTF.
Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal who rushed to the scene of the incident to inquire about the condition of the injured has stressed the need to quickly set up a commission of inquiry to determine the causes of the accident.
