Dip in a lagoon, a sought-after activity

Probably one of the most exotic sights of feeling one with nature is swimming in the clear waters of a lagoon amidst hills, watching the sun go down. Just the thought itself seems like a promising priceless experience in itself. Perhaps that's why lagoon destinations are a part of many international tours of late. Presenting itself as a secluded place and a common feature in international films, lagoons can be a fabulous get-away. We present some exciting lagoon destinations, which are ideal for relaxation, swimming and snorkelling. Chuuk Lagoon Chuuk or Truk lagoon is a giant lagoon and part of the Micronesia's undersea phenomena. For over 50 years, Chuuk has probably been the greatest underwater museums. That's why it can be a good option for scuba diving, especially near the old shipwrecks. Apart from this, the lagoon is a paradise filled with coral gardens and artificial reefs making it one of the most exciting lagoons around the world. Blue Lagoon Being one of the most visited sites in Iceland, the Blue Lagoon is perhaps one of the most amazing body of water due to its frosty blue colour. Ideal for swimming, the minerals in the water are said to have curative properties. There is also a spa located in a lava field in Grindavik, close to this destination. Dudu Lagoon If you ever want to try something new and not too expensive while visiting the Dominican Republic, the North coast has the Dudu Lagoon of Cabrera, which can be the highlight of your vacation, offering impressive white beaches and clear freshwater pools. The Dudu Lagoon is in the shape of a crater, similar to the Yucatan peninsula. Fairly popular with the canoeists, bird watching enthusiasts can also enjoy the Rietvlei Nature Reserve here, a wetland home to 112 bird species. The beaches offer spectacular views of Table Mountain, being also popular amongst surfers and other water sports lovers. Nanuya Levu Nanuya Levu or Turle Island is one of Fiji's most famous vacation spots. It is situated between the Nanuya Lailai and Nanuya Levu islands. Probably the most attractive aspect of the island is the fact that it can be all yours, at a cost, for a few hours or even days. Pileh Lagoon The Phi Phi islands is among the most scenic cluster in the Andaman Sea in Thailand. A boat ride to The Pileh Lagoon is an awesome spot to take a plunge in the emerald green waters and soak up the sun. Be careful of the high salt content though.
