London - Arab Today

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) in India will introduce ‘Walking Tours’ for visiting tourists. The ministry has partnered with Genesys International to create a ‘Walking Tours’ platform. The website WoNoBo.com was launched as a part of this initiative with location-based service offering ‘walkthroughs’ of streets across 54 Indian cities. The website supports user generated content (UGC) with social media capabilities and facilitates creation of local communities online. The walking tours will first be introduced in five major Indian cities of Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Coastal Goa and Ahmedabad, while the second phase will see walking tours 54 cities within a few weeks. Genesys International highlighted that they would map panoramic imagery of thousands of square kilometres and close to 10 million places of interest across the country. “This new initiative aims to empower the tourist by facilitating a tourist to plan their tour. The Ministry of Tourism has set the target of having one ‘Walking Tour’ of each state within two years,” a spokesperson from the MoT was quoted in PIB release. As a part of the website, users will be able to view 360-degree views of destinations as well as tag and review ‘points of interest’, locations, hotels, retail outlets, monuments, parks etc and also view the interiors of several key locations.
