Mongolian Airlines launches Singapore flights

MIAT Mongolian Airlines launched its first flights to Singapore this week.
The carrier commenced a new twice weekly service from Mongolia’s capital Ulaanbaatar to Singapore’s Changi Airport, via Beijing, on 24 September. Flights will now operate every Wednesday, Saturday using a 174-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Changi Airport Group’s executive vice President for air hub & development, Yam Kum Weng, welcomed the new arrival.
“We are proud to welcome Mongolia’s national carrier to the family of airlines at Changi Airport,” he said. “Mongolia has enjoyed strong economic growth and as the country opens up its economy and resource sectors, there will be more business and investment opportunities not only between our two countries, but also between Mongolia and Asia Pacific.
“The direct Ulaanbaatar-Singapore service by MIAT Mongolian Airlines is thus timely to support growing demand for business and leisure travel.”
Singapore becomes MIAT’s seventh international destination in Asia, following Beijing, Hong Kong, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo Haneda and Tokyo Narita airports.
For Changi, the new arrival represents its fourth new airline of the year, following Uzbekistan Airways, Spring Airways and VietJet Air.
