Restructuring of Air Algérie as from 2015

The national airline company "Air Algérie" will be subject to a major restructuring and development operation at all levels as from 2015, Transport Minister Amar Ghoul said Monday.
The minister said, at the forum of Radio channel I, that "the preliminary report of the investigation conducted by ministry on Air Algérie has been submitted to the Prime Minister, pending the completion of the audit and, consequently, the final report before the end of the year."
"As from 2015, there will be the implementation of new measures, recommendations and decisions on the regulatory aspects, management and restructuring of the company, in addition to maintenance, supervision and coordination between the various subsidiaries "of the company, said the minister.
According to Ghoul, this restructuring operation is meant to "remove all obstacles and strive to modernize Air Algérie and improve the quality of its services," he affirmed.
"Through control, audit and listening to citizens' concerns, the ministry intends to proceed to a restructuring of flight schedules by scheduling flights serving some inland areas during the day instead of night and by imposing on-time departure and arrival, and improving the services offered to travelers, "said the minister.
Moreover, the minister ruled out opening airspace to private companies, saying that "the current direction of the Government requires us not to open airspace" before conducting a study that would allow assessing the two national airlines companies "Air Algérie" and "Tassili Airlines" to engage in competition while protecting the interests of the country.
  "The Government is poised to define specifications and measures and regulations thereunder, before the opening of airspace to private," he has said.
As for Air Algérie's accidents recorded last summer, Ghoul called for "avoiding alarmism" that benefits foreign companies at the expense of the national airline company, noting that Air Algérie was not directly involved in the crash of the Spanish plane in Mali, especially as the aircraft was chartered and its crew was Spanish.
