General coordinator of the alliance Dr Wahid Abdel Majid Egypt’s Democratic Alliance, a coalition of  Egyptian political parties (the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), the political wing of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, Al Nour Party, The New Wafd party and Egyptian Social Democratic Party) announced that FJP\'s Secretary General Mohammed Saad El-Katatni will be nominated for Egypt’s People\'s Assembly as its speaker, while agreeing on selecting an MP from the Wafd Party, along with an MP from Salafi-oriented Nour Party, to serve as deputies.
After a meeting with Democratic Alliance Monday, a statement signed by the coalition’s parties issued, saying that the Democratic Alliance’s members agreed on nominating the People\'s Assembly Speaker from the party that won the majority of seats in the parliament.
The statement added that the formation of committees and their chairmen will be upon consensus and agreement with all political groups, while taking into account the representation of all political parties on the basis of capabilities and competencies.
For his part, El-Katatni said that Egyptian hope in the coming parliament to achieve revival, pointing out to the Egyptian coming phase should be built on the consensus of all political ideas and trends.
Meanwhile, (FJP) chairman Mohamed Morsi said that the parliamentary election is one of the revolution achievements, and must represent the whole society.
Mohamed Abul-Ghar, the Chairman of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party (ESDP) said that this is just an agreement and not ‘parliamentary alliance’ and applied for the first session only for selecting the speaker and two deputies.
Egyptian political circles expect that FJP after winning about 50 per cent of the parliament seats may seek to take the most important parliamentary committees such as Committee of Defense, National Security and Mobilization, Committee of Constitutional and Legislation Affairs, Committee of Budget and Planning, Committee of Foreign Affairs and Committee of Religious.
It’s worth mentioning that the first session of Egypt’s people’s assembly will be held on January 23, and will be attended by the Head of ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Mohammed Hussien Tantawi.
