Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsi
Cairo – Akram Ali

Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsi Cairo – Akram Ali Socialists and liberals have taken the streets of Cairo on Friday to protest against the Muslim Brotherhood. Hundreds of militants spoke in one voice at Talat Square to express their anger at the current system. First of all, the

protest - instigated by socialist leader Kamal Khalil, aims at demanding the release of all Egyptians detained for political reasons. They also want to see the members of Egypt\'s military council who killed protesters brought to justice. The socialists want Egypt to reject any International Monetary Fund loan and have demanded the government to set a minimum wage of EGP 1500.

The socialist militants claimed that the Muslim Brotherhood is pulling the strings of the government . The Popular Socialist Alliance Party explained that despite the fact that 16 months have passed since the revolution, social equality issues have still not been addressed. They criticised President Morsi, whose policies \"haven\'t changed since Mubarak\'s ruling.

Kamal Khalil called for a demonstration next Sunday to support journalist Abdel-Halim Qandil who is currently held in custody awaiting trial. He is accused of having insulted the president.
