President of Tunisia (right)  during meeting in Carthage with President of Syria's NCB Tunis – Nabil Zaghdoud Haytham al-Manaa, the deputy general coordinator in charge of external relations of Syria's National Committee for Democratic Change (NCDC) during an urgent visit to Tunisia, paid tribute to the country for its "unswerving support for the Syrian revolution."
During his meeting on Tuesday at the Carthage Presidential Palace, with president Moncef Marzouki, al-Manaa spoke of their convergence of views concerning the refusal of any foreign interference in Syria's affairs and rejection of any form of sectarianism that would tarnish the image of the Syrian revolution.
"We take pride in this total support by Tunisia and its president to Syria and the Syrian people," al-Manaa said.
NCDC and president Moncef Marzouki unanimously endorsed  UN special envoy Kofi Annan's  six point peace plan for Syria which they said "represents the best solution to put an end to the violence in Syria, and "the best instrument through which to achieve democratic transition which the Syrian people are fighting for."
This is the fourth meeting between Haytham Manna and president Moncef Marzouki since the latter took office. This is partly due to their close friendship and historical struggle for over 25 years, through the Arab commission for Human Rights.
According to a communiqué from the Presidency of the Republic, the meeting also emphasised the need to unify the Syrian opposition's ranks and avoid sectarianism in order to lay down the foundations of a democratic civil state following what the statement described as "the repressive and despotic regime ruling Syria."
