Construction and Development Party member Safwat Abdel Ghani Cairo – Akram Ali The Egyptian Islamic coalition has announced the delay of the demonstration demanding the implementation of the Sharia law in the Constitution. The protest will now take place on November 9. This is supposedly going to help people to be more organised for the protest in order to prove what they can achieve.
Construction and Development Party member Safwat Abdel Ghani told Arabstoday that there many members are still abroad for Hajj. The Islamic coalition also wants to give the Constituent Assembly to put together a new draft of the articles relating to Sharia law, he said. Ghani said his party will reject a constitution that goes against Sharia law.
Head of the Forum for Islamic Moderation Khaled Sherif said: “We will not comply with our nation’s identity being crushed. We will do whatever it takes to apply Sharia law.”
In a press conference, Sherif addressed the secular forces: “Your rotten goods will not succeed, and the nation’s identity will crash into it. There is a huge difference between the international treaties the society suffered and the Islamic Sharia. It is not right that the constitution and the people are taking different paths.”
He added: “We will never accept homosexuality; we will never accept that woman has the authority to divorce.
Sherif added: “As Egyptian citizens, we will not accept any regulations unless based on Islamic Sharia, and will not be second degree citizens.
During the press conference, the Leader in Freedom and Justice Party Azab Mostafa, said his party follows Sharia law and that it should be the ruler of the next period.
He said the delay of the demonstrations is to give a chance to all parties to slow down and re-think over the constitution draft, adding that the slogan for the coming demonstration will be “Koran is our constitution, jihad is our way, our Prophet Mohammad is our ideal and death for the sake of God is our highest objective.”
The liberals have refused to take part in this demonstration.
