Suki Waterhouse, the face of Coast’s glamorous V&A collection

Collections include pretty prom dresses and glamorous ballgowns British model Suki Waterhouse appears in high street store Coast's latest collaboration with the V&A museum, styled by Caroline Baker, Fashion Director at YOU magazine.

The high-street store has partnered with the museum to create a capsule collection of stunning dresses inspired by the hit exhibition, Ballgowns: British Glamour since 1950, that dazzled so many fashion lovers this year.
With access to the leading museum of art and design's collections, the Coast design team have channelled the unrivalled fashion archive into six dresses that exude the glamour of the past century.
Each style echoes the silhouette and essence of the era it is inspired by, using modern twists and techniques to create something new, and Suki exudes an old-school Hollywood glamour as she poses in the stunning creations.
Inspired by 1950s debutantes the dresses are named; Blanche, Lottie, Phoebe, Patience, Cecily and Daphne and feature a level of corsetry, use of fabric and attention to detail usually reserved for the ateliers of a couture house.
The Lottie Dress is inspired by the great couturiers of the 1950s and is designed to replicate the romantic full silhouette of this decade finished in seductive black.
Inspired by the 1930's trend of bias cutting and intricate panelling, the flattering Patience Dress remains a look that still resonates on the red carpets of today.
Photographs by society portraitures such as Cecil Beaton have inspired Blanche, which is scallop shaped and mint coloured with a smattering of beading and sequins to add an element of frivolity.
The Cecily Dress references the architect of British glamour, Jean Charles Worth and his signature designs with plenty of dramatic chiffon panels and crystal beadwork.
The 1950s photography of Norman Parkinson together with Galliano Couture provides the inspiration behind Phoebe, a dramatic floor sweeping gown in delicate dove grey organza.
As for Daphne, it was the iconic silhouettes of vintage 1950s Balenciaga and Valentino that inspired the design.
Speaking about the glamorous collection, Coast design director Kim Elliot said: "It was incredible to have access to the V&A's amazing and inspirational collection to create the Coast Ballgown Collection."
"We felt truly inspired and very lucky to have this opportunity to delve into the glamorous past to create modern day glamour."
