The Assistant Foreign Minister and Head of the Delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the 36th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri, affirmed that the laws and legislations in the Kingdom of Bahrain reinforce legal and judicial procedures and guarantees in accordance with the highest international standards. He added that as a result of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s reform approach, the Kingdom of Bahrain has spared no effort in promoting the values of democracy, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as the concept of freedom of expression and advancing women in various fields. He also affirmed the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to cooperate with the Human Rights Council and other UN mechanisms in order to promote and develop the culture of human rights.

This came during his meetings with a number of officials and diplomats in the Human Rights Council in Geneva, including the Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations, Theodore Allegra, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States for Human Rights, Jason Mack, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations, Miriam Shearman, and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Guatemala, Ambassador Carla Maria Rodriguez.

The Assistant Foreign Minister also met the Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures, Idriss Jazairy, during which he expressed disappointment at the relations between the countries combating terrorism and the State of Qatar, which resulted in the severance of bilateral relations due to Qatar’s interference in other countries’ internal affairs, its support to terrorism and harboring of terrorist individuals and organizations.

The Assistant Foreign Minister also noted the decision of the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s to consider humanitarian cases in a manner that preserves social cohesion and the rights of brotherhood and neighborliness of the Qatari people, and keep their social, educational and health communication.

The Assistant Foreign Minister stressed that Qatar’s allegations and submission of numerous complaints to the UN mechanisms reflect its disregard for the roots of the problem, and shows its purpose of presenting a different picture to the international public opinion, which confirms Qatar’s unwillingness to respond to the initiative of His Highness the Emir of Kuwait To resolve the crisis.

The Assistant Foreign Minister affirmed the readiness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to cooperate with Mr. Idriss Jazairy and provide all the necessary information to respond to the Qatari allegations.
