Cabinet rejects interference

 His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has extended sincerest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Eid Al-Fitr, wishing him and the Bahraini, Arab and Islamic peoples many happy returns.
HRH the Prime Minister also lauded HM the King’s successful visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and stressed the importance of his talks with the UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, as well as with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, in enhancing joint understanding and action, and consolidating consultation and coordination between the two brotherly countries.

This came as HRH the Prime Minister chaired the regular weekly Cabinet session, at the Gudaibiya Palace today.

According to a statement by the Cabinet Secretary-General, Dr Yasser bin Isa Al-Nasser, the session strongly condemned the terrorist blast that had targeted a police patrol in Duraz, resulting in the death of an on-duty policeman and the wounding of others.
The Cabinet stressed that the hand of justice would reach the perpetrators who will be punished for their outrageous crime.
It offered deepest condolences to the fallen policeman’s family, wishing them patience and fortitude. It also wished quick recovery to the injured.

The Cabinet said that Bahrain’s domestic affairs are purely a sovereign matter, stressing that targeting the kingdom’s national security is unacceptable.
The practices towards the Kingdom of Bahrain, driven by motives that are not consistent with sovereignty principles and are out of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Arab and Islamic contexts, are deplorable and categorically rejected, the session said.
The Cabinet stressed that Bahrain would never accept any kind of interference in its domestic affairs or the exploitation of outlaws to promote practices that may affect its security, stability and civic peace.

The session welcomed the Kingdom’s election as a regular member at the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Office for the period 2017–20 with the Government Group, noting that the exploit reflects Bahrain’s distinguished international status and reputation thanks to its efforts and achievements in the labour field.

Regarding the citizens’ remarks on services, HRH the Prime Minister instructed the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning to finalise lighting services, road pavement and sewage works at Complex 1056 in Zallaq.

The Prime Minister also gave directives to ensure that services delivered to the citizens, including water, are not affected by some development projects, such as those currently implemented in Riffa and its neighbouring areas.
In this context, HRH Premier stressed that ministries and government departments should respond promptly to the remarks made by citizens through the media.

Reviewing the memoranda on its agenda, the session approved a draft law on the issuance of the Family Law after the Sharia Committee formed as per Royal Order 24/2017 had completed the scrutiny of its articles. The bill was referred to the Legislature in accordance with the constitutional and legal procedures in force.

The session also endorsed a draft edict on amending Edict 4/1983 on taxi fares and the fees paid for driving instructors, as highlighted in the presentation given by the Interior Minister.

The session also approved a draft law proposed by the Council of Representatives on amending Law 13/1975 regarding the regulation of salaries, and retirement rewards of government employees. The bill was referred to the Legislative Branch, along with the government’s opinion.
The bill aims to extend the umbrella of social insurance and its benefits to temporary public sector workers, just like employees with permanent contracts.

The Cabinet reviewed a draft-law proposed by the Council of Representatives on amending Article 59 of the Land Registration Law promulgated by Law 13/2013. The draft-law was referred to the Legislature, alongside a memorandum highlighting the government’s opinion.

The session approved a proposal submitted by the Council of Representatives on the security and safety rules in kindergartens and primary schools, noting that work is underway to take all necessary preventive measures to beef up security there.

The Cabinet also approved the government’s reply to another proposal on the period of time required for a citizen to obtain a housing unit in the area to which they have moved.
