
Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen flew to Russia late Monday for a working visit and attending the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit, a Cambodian government official said.
The Cambodian leader will be paying a two-day working visit on May 17-18 in Moscow, where he will hold bilateral talks with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on May 17, said Sry Thamarong, minister attached to the prime minister.
"After the talks, Samdech Techo Prime Minister and His Excellency Medvedev will witness a signing ceremony of eight documents," he told reporters at the Phnom Penh international airport before departure.
Two of the documents are the memorandums of understanding on the establishment of Nuclear Energy Information Center and a Cambodia-Russia joint working group on cooperation in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, he said, adding that the third document is an extradition treaty.
And the rest of the documents are focused on bilateral cooperation in justice, law enforcement, telecommunication and information technologies, sports, trade, economics and investment.
After that, the Cambodian leader will travel to the Black Sea resort city of Sochi to attend the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit on May 19-20.
According to Sry Thamarong, the prime minister will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the summit.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen wrote on his Facebook page on Monday that "the visit is to strengthen relations between the two countries and to attend the 20th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations."
