Dr. Ahmed el-Tayyeb
Cairo - Arab Today

Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam will take part in the World Economic Forum 2016 at an official invitation from the chairman of the forum that will be attended by more than 150 heads of state and government as well as senior state officials worldwide.

WEF will convene on Wednesday in Klosters, Switzerland over four days.

The Mufti's participation in Davos is the first of its kind by a religious figure as he will hold intensive meetings with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva Michael Møller, Head of the WEF Klaus Shwab and Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

Allam will expound Egypt's vision on means of combating extremism and warn against the antagonist discourse against Islam and Muslims in the western world.

He will also deliver a speech at the forum on the correct understandings of Islam, inter-civilization dialogue and coexistence.

In statements on Monday, Allam pressed the need for interacting with the world countries and decision-makers at such critical time to speak about the correct Islamic values.

He said Egypt's Iftaa House could be an influential partner in all international events and play a role in increasing awareness of the people through lectures on the Islamic religious issues by a galaxy of religious scholars and preachers.
