Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive Mohamed Ali AlQaed highlighted the royal praise of the results achieved by the ICT sector in the Kingdom – based on His Majesty’s vision of sustainability, competitiveness and justice principals which are strong foundations of the Economic Vision 2030.
The results came about from the achieved development efforts of Bahrain’s government headed by H.R.H. Prince Khalifa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister; together with the continuous follow-up of the H.R.H. Prince Salman bin Hamad AlKhalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister in encouraging economic activities, harnessing technology to support entrepreneurship, motivating innovation towards economic diversity in the Kingdom as well as including them in the Government Action Plan due to its direct contribution in supporting economy – based on knowledge, support of development projects and attracting of investments, he said.
AlQaed added that Bahrain, thanks to His Majesty’s wise directions, has established a solid foundation for sustainable development and its advancement – making the citizens the core objective.
His Majesty paid special attention to the ICT sector so as to advance in the services, delivered to citizens and residents, which today are keeping abreast with the latest and best technology practices in developed, most advanced and high in readiness countries.
The Government of Bahrain has promptly recognized the importance of establishing a solid infrastructure for the IT sector to support the development boom – led by His Majesty and the execution supervised by the wise government through collaboration and joint integration amongst all government and non-government sectors in a harmonious manner that creates a safe environment and fosters confidence in investors amongst the various sectors.
AlQaed added that the Kingdom has witnessed, thanks to His Majesty’s directions, a quantum leap in the ICT sector and its uses; making Bahrain one of the advanced countries in this arena to establish new industries in the region and leading it to attract the largest global companies to the Kingdom – leading it to become a regional hub for investment to create new job opportunities.
AlQaed highlighted that the Kingdom has achieved remarkable progress in the UN eGovernment Survey, its maintenance of advanced positions, positioning itself within the top leading ranks four times in a row since 2010 and attaining the first place amongst the Arab countries in the eGovernment readiness.
Such an accomplishment comes within the directives of the wise leadership and support of this sector according to systematic strategies and plans that have contributed in enhancing the efficiency of the ICT infrastructure.
AlQaed also stressed that the authority, guided by His Majesty’s speech, will move ahead with its role to achieve sustainability in the quality of government services provided for the public in various means. It will also work on increasing the number of public services delivered online as they are one of the tools that contribute to the success of the upcoming phase of government direction and to achieve His Majesty’s aspiration
