Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will arrive in Cairo on Tuesday on an official visit to participate in the opening of the new Suez Canal on Thursday.
Abbas will also attend a meeting of the Arab peace initiative committee at the Arab foreign ministers’ level on Wednesday, Palestinian Ambassador to Cairo Jamal al Shobki told WAFA news agency.
Abbas will meet with a number of officials and Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby to discuss the latest Palestinian developments and issues on the committee agenda, Shobki said.
The committee meeting is held upon Palestine’s request to probe the Israeli recent escalations in Al Quds and continued settlement activities.
