Transport Minister Galal el Saaed laid down Friday the foundation stone of a project to upgrade Dahab-Nuweiba road with a length of 65 Kilometers.
Jordanian Transport Minister Yahia Kasabi and Head of the General Authority for Roads and Bridges General Adel Turk attended the project’s inauguration ceremony.
The Dahab-Nuweiba road is a key hub for transportation in South Sinai governorate as it links Taba port to Nuweiba port and helps encourage trade and tourism movements between Dahab and Nuweiba cities, el Saaed asserted.
The Arab Contractors Company and General Nile Company For Roads Construction were selected to develop the road at a total cost of EGP 125 million, he noted.
The two companies have a 12-month deadline to finalize the project, the minister said.
He underlined that the government is keen on developing Sinai through a number of roads that are being implemented there.
