Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received Shura Council Financial and Economic Affairs Committee Chairman Khalid Hussein Al Maskati and his accompanying delegation.

Chief Executive of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) Shaikh Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa was present on the occasion.

The two sides reviewed areas of cooperation between the electricity, water and renewable energy sectors and the Shura Council. These included steps to the close cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities to achieve common goals that serve the citizens.

The minister gave a presentation on the government's plans for the electricity, water and renewable energy sectors and its achievements. The presentation included details of existing and future projects and fewer electrical interruptions.

Al Maskati pledged the support of the committee for all plans and programmes for the electricity and water sector and the development of its systems and praised the efforts of the minister and officials and their keenness to implement the highest quality in all services provided to citizens.

He also applauded the success in implementing a well thought out plan that contributed to rationalising the consumption of electricity and water, changing the previous consumption pattern to a more conscious pattern and realising the importance of energy conservation.

He also praised the relentless quest towards the implementation of projects in various regions of Bahrain to increase energy production, leading to the strengthening of this service and to ensuring its availability to citizens at subsidised price.

He lauded the constant cooperation of the minister with the legislative branch and his keenness to provide all necessary information and data when discussing proposals and projects that would develop regulations and legislation related to electricity and water. He expressed his appreciation and thanks to the minister and officials for their response to the comments.
