Minister of Legal Affairs and parliament Magdy el Agaty said he accepted on Thursday the resignation of Khaled Abdel-Salam el Sadr, secretary general of Egypt's House of Representatives.
Speaking to MENA, the minister said el Sadr presented his resignation earlier on Thursday as he does not meet the legal qualifications needed for the post.
The Secretary General must hold a bachelor of law, but Sadr doesn't, the minister said.
The minister thanked the outgoing secretary general on efforts exerted since he took the office in October 2014.
The new secretary general would be appointed very soon, el Agaty said.
El Sadr, ex-army major general, began his new job last October as first man from military ranks to hold this post.
