
Turkey has summoned its ambassador to Austria on Monday "for consultations and to revise relations," Anadolu news agency reported, citing Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusolgu.
The move comes in the wake of comments made by senior Austrian officials that were deemed hostile to Turkey. "Unfortunately, the ground on which our bilateral relations and cooperation with Austria can be normally sustained has disappeared," Cavusolgu said, adding that the Austrian charge d'affaires was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry and was briefed on Ankara's stance.
`He added that the Austrian authorities banned Turkish citizens living there from holding an anti-coup rally, expressing disturbance at these activities.
